we are raising money for JDRF the junior diabetes research foundation and wonder how we go about asking for donations to raffle
A: go up to them and be like "Hey, i was just wondering if i could get this stuff siged for a raffle-its for a rele good cause. The money's gunna go to (w.e the charity is)"
Q: In 2005, my grandfather passed away from complications due to diabetes ...?
a few weeks after the funeral we recieved a condolence card in the mail with a monetary gift inside with instructions "use as desired".
This afternoon I ran across the lady who sent the card after a few years of not seeing her. When discussing the funeral and her gift I told her that her donation had been donated to to the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation (DRWF), a foundation that my grandfather had greatly supported throughout his battle with the disease and at one time even volunteered for it's funding department.
To my dismay she became angry and said that the donation had been meant to be used for funeral expenses or any dept my grandfather left behind and that since it wasn't used for this we owe her the money.
My grandfather had his estate taken care of - there was no debt or funeral expenses upon his death. All monetary donations were donated to the charity that my grandfather supported.
The donation was for a hefty amount - an amount that my family cannot afford. We believe that since the donation was a gift and since her directions were to "used as desired" we should not be required to pay it back just because it wasn't used as she would have liked.
Any thoughts?
A: You're absolutely correct! What a nasty old hag to be complaining about such a ridiculous thing. She should have never given cash if she had stipulations behind it, she should have offered to write a check towards a debt or funeral expense or purchased a gift card for God's sake! I think what you did with the money was very noble and that your Grandfather would have appreciated it. I would tell her that paying the money back is simply not fees able as it's been donated at that she'll have to deal because it's what your Grandfather would have wanted. Terribly sorry for your loss, good luck to you and your family.
Q: Why has walmart dropped Olivio butter spread made by Lee Iacocca's foundation?
They have donated 25 million to diabetes research. I went to the walmart store in Lake City Florida to get some more in the 2# size tub, and was told it was discontinued. I found the blend of olive oil and canola, etc. to be of agreeable taste and texture that rivals butter, within a reasonable price per pound. Some politics afoot? or a butter spread war going on?
A: Lack of demand...
Q: If work let you automatically deduct from payroll charitable donations, Which charities would you donate to.?
American Cancer Society
The Juevenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Breast Cancer
Children's Miracle Network
Make A Wish
A: none of the above.
I would have my money sent to missionaries around the world.
But I already do that on a weekly basis.
my elementary aged child supports missionaries working directly with children and my high schoolers supports a ministry that buys electronic equipment for missionaries.
Q: Will I get in trouble? Kings Dominion?
Hey! I was just wondering about this JDRFDAYS corporate code for Kings Dominion. You type in the code and you can get tickets for half price. I was wondering if you have to be a part of a certain company or organization to use this code because it sees to let me order tickets using the code, no problem. I just don't want to get in trouble or anything. Can I use the code? When you get the ticket, $2 goes to the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation. Will I get in trouble for using it? Thanks! :D
A: I highly doubt you would get in trouble. I say go for it. Its for a good cause and will save you some money!
Q: JDRF Walk? (Charity walk)?
Does anyone know good fundraising tips for the JDRF (juvenille diabetes research foundation) walk? Also a place (or site) where you can order tee-shirts for not that expensive? A: Go to www.vistaprint.com. You can get tshirts (order them one at a time) for about $4 shipping.

This year, I'll be taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes along with a half-million other walkers across the country.
Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes, is a devastating, often deadly disease that affects millions of people--a large and growing percentage of them children.
I'm writing to ask for your support because now more than ever, EACH of us can be a part of bringing about a cure.
Each of us can make a real difference
Won't you please give to JDRF as generously as you're able? Anything can help, even 1 dollar!
Together, we can make the cure a reality.
Thank you,
GO TO THIS LINK, FOR ANY DONATIONS
http://walk. jdrf. org/walker. cfm?id=87160805
All donations go to the JDRF, and foundation that is so close to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes.
Donations online go straight to the research foundation, so I will not see it, and it is safe. :)
Thank you in advance..
A: Thanks for posting this. My husband and his twin are both Type I diabetics, as well as, my sister.
Keep spreading the word.
Q: UCLA Berkeley? Possible?
Hey guys! So I am a junior and I go to a normal, public school. I have a 3.99 GPA and have only gotten 1 a- in freshman english. I took all normal classes fresh year and then sophomore year I took honors Biology and honors english. Junior year I was in IB english, honors ASL and honors chemistry. Next year, my senior year, I am taking Honors ASL, college english and college history then normal pre calc.
I have really bad SAT scores, on the PSAT I got 490 on all of the sections and was in the 50th percentile and 23 on ACT
I have great extra curricular
I am a teen advocate for American Diabetes Association
and have volunteered for many many events and camps.
I also volunteer for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
I have good public speaking skills. I am speaking at an ADA event talking about diabetes and my experiences.
So,,, Chances? SAT too bad to get in?
A: You have an amazing GPA, but you're right in that your SAT/ACT scores don't match up. If I were you, I would study my butt off this summer, and retake them in the fall. You do have three more chances for each test.

A: We collected donations for local business. ( They can claim what ever they give on taxes). But I believe it would wise to contact the diabetes research foundation. Talk to them about how you can get a paper to give to business. ( so they have the info for taxes). Then we had a spaghetti dinner all day on a Sat. Charged 6.00 adult 3.00 child. We used what we got for donations to do a Chinese raffle. Which we set up as they walked in plus did a 50/50. Plus additional donations were excepted. We raised 15,000.00. It's was wonderful. It was really easy and fairly cheap. The soccer team can clean up after people leave to make room for more. Make sure you advertise. Post flyers ect.
Q: Which Would you choose?
i have to do a speech on a charity/cause/shelter because we r donating money to ONE charity as a class. we r takinga vote once everyone does their speech. and it has to somehow be personally connected to myself. i have narrowed my choice down to two but i have no idea which one to do.
JDRF
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
My sister has been a diabetic since the age of 9. i am fairly active with this charity and i know that they do a lot of fundraising throughout the year.
Camp Companion
one of the local shelters here. we found a little puppy on the side of the road and when we couldnt afford the vet bills they took care of them for us and allowed us to foster the dog and choose the new home for it
which would u choose. i know that JDRF is a great cause but i also know that Camp Companion doesnt get a lot of funding or anything like that please help
by the way this is in the dog section because i need serious answers not goofy ones from P&S
i know i could do a better speech on camp companion but my family is really urging me to do JDRF
a little more info on camp companion is that they mainly deal with trapping stray cats and either putting them up for adoption or sending them to live in a feral cat colony, they very rarely euthanize and they often do mass spay and neuters and offer low cost spay and neuter clinics
A: if it was up to me it would have to be camp companion animal Charity's rely on public donations and do great job of saving thousands of animals per year that other wise would be left to die

Can I get into UCSD? UCI? UCSB?
Boston College? NYU?
A: You can get into a lot of great universities. While your GPA and SAT scores are good -- they are on the low end of those accepted to elite schools.
You will probably get into some UC. I think Berkeley and UCLA are unlikely and that UCSD will be a stretch for you. UCI and UCSB are real possibilities. I think NYU and BC are unlikely but possible.
As for the misdemeanor, you may not have to tell them. You would probably have to tell them about a felony.
