Q: is there a cure for type 1 juvenile diabetes?
A: The only cure to date is a pancreas transplant. Don't get caught up in phony drugs or treatment that claim to cure diabetes. They are just money makers and can be very bad for your health
Dr Atkins diet can be very dangerous to diabetics because it can cause the ketones to rise. Most doctors and nutritionists will tell you to stay away from this diet. Studies on Chromium Picolate have shown that is does not help blood sugars to go down or help the diabetes. It only reduced the blood sugar readings by about 10 points in most cases. There were over 1,000 people that participated in the study.
Yes, type 2 can SOMETIMES be controlled by diet and exercise, but usually requires medication later in life. Not all type 2's can control their disease this way, because type 2 is also caused by a disfuntion in the pancreas.
Yes, Ali is totally WRONG

http://www.pure2x2.com/DrKenneth417
We will use all the money we make to help the ADA find a cure for diabetes in the generation that is coming up,so they do not suffer like we are presently suffering (my daughter type 1 and I type 2) both have the disease.
A: You shouldn't need any support if the 2x2 system is as good as you claim.
I can't wait for the cure.

I 'm lookin for a sample of a letter that someone else has wrote saying thank you for your support and donations in finding a cure for juvenile diabetes. The sample letters for the fundraiser page helped me a lot but i can't find a thank you one........... Thanks
A: Tiredness can be a symptom of diabetes but is very non specific.
Your age and being overweight does increase your risk
Often a person in your age group will present with infections -commonly thrush/monilia as a vaginitis.. you can also present with a heart attack or stroke as a complication of diabetes. 1% of the population are diabetics another 1% are undiagnosed
The easiest way to set your mind at rest is to see your doctor for a blood/urine test.
Q: walk to cure diabetes...?
I am a Juvenile Diabetec doing a Walk to Cure Diabetes.
I am trying to reach my team goal and i have had family members help donate, and a few friends buy some blue wristbands...but i am not close.
but if anyone wants to help it would be greatly appreciated by a LOT of people...
if 10 people donated 50 cents, i'd be 5 dollars closer to my goal! ill take anything...a penny, nickel, dime, dollar, 20 dollars..whatever!
go to this site for proof that im not a fake.. thanks!
http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=86518017
first one to donate gets 10 points? haha...
so my question is...will you please help?
A: Fourteen hours ago and you notice why people haven't been answering your question. Generally, people are good; deep down, but when you put money into the equation, no matter what the cause. Over the Internet donateering isn't as useful a tool as one might think. Words of encouragement and probably the only real answer to your question, good luck and what a wonderful cause to walk for.

Q: Where can I find diabetes myspace layouts?
I am a juvenile type 1 diabetic and I am looking for a support/cure/care diabetes myspace layout- any of those would be great! Thanks for any help!!
A: Most layout web sites don't specify with causes. The usual ones are for cancer. Diabetes shouldn't be ignored but then again, not many people are educated about it. I make layouts, backgrounds, wallpapers, and stuff like that. If you'd like, I could make you one. Just specify what it is you want on there.
Q: Cure for Diabetes?
I have a friend who's a Type one (Juvenile) Diabetic and he's really tired of taking nedels all the time. Does anyone know if there is a cure or even something that's being tested? Thanks
A: There is no cure currently for diabetes. Islet cell transplants (cells from the pancreas which produce insulin) are being studied as an experimental cure for diabetes however it is still under research.

A: Hi there well done,i congratulate and thank you on your efforts,as i am a type 2 diabetic and i donate to my local diabetes clinic, which is just outside the UK,i wish you good luck with your walk
Q: how do you get major donors for non-profit organizations like JDRF?
My daughter Alyse is 4 and was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes 01/2007. We are raising money to help find a cure but I just cant figure out how to get individuals to become big money donors and I need help please.
A: I've been type 1 since I was 1 yr old. My mother and father used to do major fundraisers for JDF before they put the R in there. They would have to go to large business CEO's in the area and explain the disease, the complications, and the plight of the youngest victims of the disease. You need to talk to their hearts. Make them feel sorry for the children suffering. If people understand that your 4 yr old could end up in a coma or lose a leg they want to help. It has to be genuine and from the heart. Make up a flyer about your cause and leave it at a lawyers office, a local tv station, your church, your bank.
I hope I helped give you ideas of how to do it. Good luck to you!
Q: writing a congressional letter?!?!?!?
hi im writing a letter to my federal representitive about life with type 1 diabetes. i dont know how to start it!! here are the points we have to cover, taken directly from JDRF so im giving them full credit!! :
Your letter should include the following topics:
Your personal story about living with type 1 diabetes
Why a cure for juvenile diabetes is important to you
Why the U.S. Congress should support diabetes research issues to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes
If applicable, what have you done to promote awareness of type 1 diabetes in your community
im not asking for you to write the letter for me of course, but whats a smooth way to transition into it?!?!? i want it to be really really really good and im a good writer i just havent been writing much really lately and im really nervous and i really want to go!! thanks so much!! <33333
A: Introduce yourself, state where you live and then go into the topic of your letter. The next paragraphs will give the body of your self story.
Make a paragraph for each of the points outlined above. Try not to delve too long on your personal story, cover the important or dramatic points, keep it in chronological order (when things happened) and make it as simple as possible so its easy to understand and follow.
Reps are human and appreciate stories from a human angle. Also a story told from a good human angle may hook them and give them the impetus they need to support whatever action your asking them to support.
Talk about exactly what action you expect the Rep to do for you, support an upcoming bill? Help to write an upcoming possible bill?
Do a little research and find out what issues this rep likes to support. He/she fiscally conservative? Is he/she someone who is moved by social justice issues? Gear the point of your letter toward his/her pet interests by focusing on points of your plea that highlight these pet interests. For example, if your rep is a fiscal conservative who votes down most spending bills, then focus on why supporting this or that issue/bill is a fiscally conservative thing to do.
Praise the rep on work he's done in the past (again do your research), preferably something that you can tie into your cause. They sometimes need to be reminded of where their priorities lie and to be consistent in their voting patterns (or that a change to vote for this issue is a great thing).
Be specific because they need your direction (they represent you afterall). They are more than likely aware of many pressing issues and hear from many constituents, they need some clear guidance of action they can sink their teeth into.
Close the letter with an advanced thanks for their hard work on your behalf and invite them to call or write you if they have any further questions. Make up a letterhead for yourself that has your name, address and contact numbers including email.
A hardcopy letter means more than an email and a phone call, depending upon the urgency of the issue means even more than that. You could even ask to visit with and speak to the rep personally. This is your right and why not if you can get the transportation and make an appointment?
Representatives and senators are inundated with lobbyists who the majority of them just bore them to tears. Most good reps love seeing their constituents.
Most importantly, make your letter sound as if you are talking to him right there, not like a form letter you copied from someone.
