Q: Need some creative team names for Diabetes Walk?
I'm forming a team for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk and I'm coming up short on quirky team names. The walk is going to be at Liberty State Park (view of the Statue of Liberty). I was trying to come up with something associated with that, but ehhh. So far my team and I have come up with zilch. Thanks for any help!
A: Sugar Shakers, Happy Feet, Sweet Soles, Let them Eat Cake, Legs for Liberty, Distance for Diabetes
idk, i just thought of those off the top of my head. maybe they arent so good :P
Q: is there a foundation or charitable organization who helps poor children suffering from juvenile diabetes?
i have a neighbor whose 11 year old niece suffers from diabetes. this girls' mom abandoned her at an early age and the father right now is out of work so it's my neighbor who's taking care of her niece and she's not faring well since the cost of medicine weighs her down. She's a public high school teacher in a the Philippines and what she earns isn't enough to support her niece. she's asking me to help her find a sponsor if there is one for the girl and i'm kind of stumped so here i am asking for your help guys, anyone?
A: Here's a link for the big one with locations all over the world.

Q: Where can I turn in soda can tabs for money?
I live in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, IL and I was wondering where I can turn in pop can tabs for money so I can donate the money to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Does anyone know where I can turn them in?
A: They don't actually take them for donations for diabetes. This is a HUGE urban legend.
You can take them to the recycling depot where they will redeem the aluminum for what the weight is worth, which is very little. You would need a lot of tabs.
Snopes says: "Charity groups and the aluminum industry say they have been fighting misconseptions about collecting pop can tabs for years"
Q: Does she have diabetes?
I wanted to know if Kristen Stewart has diabetes. She was at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk To Cure Diabetes in LA this weekend and I was wondering if she actually has diabetes or if she simply was promoting herself for New Moon (coming out next week).
A: No it is NOT a publicity ploy.
She's involved with that foundation since she was 12.
She portrayed a suffering diabetic in her movie with Jodie Foster (Panic Room).
She was also involved with Security On Campus PSA for rape victims, bcoz she was trumatized 14-year old rape victim in "Speak",her best performace so far.
Q: If I am planning on doing a small fundraiser, should I contact the charity first?
I've been thinking about raising money for CODA (Central Ohio Diabetes Association) and JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) by shaving my head. Kind of like a "How much will you pay me to shave my head?" then giving the money to the two organizations. Should I contact these organizations beforehand?
A: Yes, you should contact them beforehand. First, if someone wants to verify that you are truly collecting money for them, then they have the real answer. 2nd, before you decide, you should have a $ amount in mind. Will you shave your head for $5? What if no one really cares if you shave your head or not and you only get a little money? I think that perhaps the shaving of the head could be a part of the fund raiser, but not the whole thing. How much do you realistically think you can get for shaving your head? Will it be enough to share with 2 such large organizations? Consider joining another fund raiser or donate to a local group. Think out your options before you speak publicly.
Q: does rickie weeks have diabetes??
i heard of the fubdraiser Rickie Weeks was doing "Dining for a Difference" charity event for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at the brewers game yesterday and i was wondering if Rickie Weeks has diabetes?
A: no he does not. I was at the event. his mother and his grandparents have it.

Michael Jackson has donated 300-500 millions of dollars to charity
don't let me not get started on awards Michael has won and records he broke...
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE PETER KING?
(and don’t say ran for us house...your not even know out of the state of NY)
So Peter King when you've reached the HALF WAY mark of Michael Jackson's accomplishments MAYbe this video will be over looked and you will gain much respect and love from people...AND media coverage when you die, until then respect the legendary MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON!
RIP MICHAEL JACKSON
A: He shouldnt say stuff like that about a dead man. It's just wrong. And i think pete forgot about all the loads of charity michael has done. He didnt even mention that in his video. That charity helped hundreds and is a huge sacrifice in itself. Michael has faced criticism all his life. Leave him alone now that he has died!
R.I.P Michael Jackson
Q: Reporting a teacher who neglects student's health conditions!?!!?
Today in class my teacher neglected my 504 plan (a plan which states for my juvenile diabetes that I am allowed to leave my classroom for as long as I need to take care of myself and not be penalized... etc). I was gone from my class for 13 minutes (and even students without a 504 are allowed a maximum of 20 minutes without penalization out of class). When I returned to class, where we were only watching a sex ed video, my teacher screamed at me and told me to "GET OUT OF MY CLASSROOM". I didn't want to disturb anyone so i didnt fight it and went out into the hall until the period was over. I returned to class and said apologized to my teacher for leaving so long and told him I had a 504 so he couldn't do that the next time it happened, if it ever did. He replied "I don't give a S**t about your diabetes or your 504 plan. Get out of my office and enjoy your cut slip and a failing grade". So basically for being out of class for 10 minutes I get a cut slip and a failing grade. i reported it immediately to my house master who basically told me "hed get back to me" (my school pretty much could care less about their students.. as long as theyre getting paid of course). I spoke to a friend of mine at school who is also diabetic and he told me I could report this case to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, to potentially get this teacher fired for him neglecting my health condition, and the circumstances that come with it. Does anyone know what I should do? Or who/where I should call/ contact? I feel like this is incredibly unfair and if my teacher is too stupid to understand my condition, then he should get quite a slap in the face from a much larger organization.
HELP! PLEASE!
A: WOW, I don't know if this is a public school in USA, but if so, this is quite common. Public schools think they are above any laws, and the reason for this is because everyone is 'on their side' and they dont' get punished for anythign they do.
That's not to say you can't deal with this, however. There is LOTS you can do.
First, write down EVERYTHIGN that was done and said. ALL details.
Attach this to a letter that your parents write to the district 504 coordinator. In this letter, parents state that they will be filing a 504 complaint with the ADA. (AND DO IT).
The school will know what this means.
At the bottom of the letter, cc the principal, superintendent, and the state dept of educations 504 department.
And actually go thru it and SEND a copy of this letter to each one of them.
Your teacher has an 'office'? I don't understand that.
He can't give you a failing grade. Parents state in the letter that he better not do this, or more 504 complaints with ADA.
It will be an uphill battle, but I think this is the way to go. If it doesn't stop after all this, write a letter to be put in the local newspaper.
Or even go to the tv news.

A: As a person with a disability, you are protected by law.

This situation should first be taken to the Administration or the School Board of your school. You may also want to contact the physician who requested the 504 to see if he/she can provide information on how to file a complaint against the school.
I work at a school, and we are very careful about accommodating students with IEPs and 504s. No instructor at my school would behave in the way you've described.
If you are a minor, your parents should be told about this situation.
This instructor is not just "neglecting your health", he is breaking the law. I battled my daughter's school for 4 years regarding her 504 and never received any cooperation, so sometimes you have to persist regarding your rights.
